Abstract

|
the purpose of this study was to determine whether after the creation of an end to side portocaval shunt (PCS), pancreatic islets transplantation into the liver could rescue hepatocellular function. Approximately 1000 rat islets were transplanted
through portal vein. 5 days after end to side PCS. Hepatocellular function was evaluated by quantitative analysis of Caffeine using Capillay Electrophoresis(MECC) at 42 days after PCS, Caffeine clearance was improved in the islets transplanted
group
compare to PCS only. This result suggest that islet transplantation after PCS improve hepatocellular function.
